The History Curriculum provides students with an awareness of history, an essential characteristic of any society. Historical knowledge is fundamental to understanding ourselves and others.
Historical Knowledge and Understanding Historical Skills are the two strands in the Australian curriculum through which students develop an understanding of the past and present experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their identity and the continuing value of their culture. Students look at Australia's position in the Asia-Pacific region, and the wider world.
